The Unexpected

Set design projection for Rémy Girard enchansonne Claude Gauvreau.

Inspired by Norman Mclaren, pioneer of canadian animated film, as well as the automatist movement. The projection uses their dynamic to create imagery, composed of works of contemporary painters such as Magritte, Riopelle and Borduas.  It is modulated between minimal ambiances and strobes of deconstructed imagery.

The performance was presented for 2 weeks at Usine C, Montreal, Canada, 2008.

The song Ulysses by Murcoff is featured in this version of the video.
Concept & animation: C.Pomerleau
